The Current Asbestos Regulations enforced by The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, are as follows:

	The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987 (including amendments).
	The Special Waste Regulations 1996.
	The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

New regulations ( MDHS100 ) which modify The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987 are due to be implementation in May 2002, with a lead-in period of 2 years from that date. The regulations will require that all industrial and commercial premises are surveyed for asbestos. The results of the survey must be recorded in an asbestos register to be held on-site for inspection, and continually updated.
